Indian Commonwealth Scholarship Plan - 2021/2022
MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
INDIAN POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS UNDER THE
COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP PLAN - 2021/22
Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankans for the awarding of 05 scholarships for PhD
courses offered by the Government of India under the above scholarship scheme.
01. Field of Study: Open to all streams except Medicine, Paramedical
(Nursing/Physiotherapy/Anesthesia etc.) and Fashion Design Courses
02. General eligibility requirements:
i Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
ii Should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a First or Second Class Upper Division from
a recognized university/Degree Awarding Institutes with postgraduate qualifications
iii Be less than 45 years of age as at 10.05.2021
iv Be employed in the Government/Semi Government.
- No application will be entertained from a person holding a temporary/ casual/ contractual
appointment or a person who is unemployed. Only permanent and confirmed employees
will be considered for the scholarships.
- An employee on probation may apply, provided that his/her confirmation is conditional
upon acquiring a specified postgraduate qualification. In such a case, a statement to that
effect should be included as a special reason in cage 10 of the application.
E.g. A lecturer on probation is eligible to apply when he/she is in continuous service for
a period of one year from the date of his/her appointment by 10.05.2021 (a confirmation
requirement as per the UGC-E Code Chapter X. Division II, 27:3).
v Should possess a high proficiency in English.
