Applications are invited from qualified citizens of Sri Lanka for the recruitment to the post of Range Forest Officer of Training Grade of Sri Lanka Technological Service in the Department of Forest Conservation. The examination will be held in June 2024 in Colombo.
1. Salary:
- Training Grade: MN 01 as per Public Administration Circular No.03/2016
- 1st year: Rs. 27,140/-
- 2nd year: Rs. 27,440/-
- Salary Scale: MN 03 as per Public Administration Circular No.03/2016

3. Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age as of the closing date of the application.
or
(ii) Pass in the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination in three (03) subjects, including either Zoology, Botany, or Agriculture as two subjects in one sitting under the old syllabus.
- AND -(iii) Pass in the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination in Six (06) subjects with credit passes for Sinhala/Tamil/English Language, Mathematics, Science, and one more subject in one sitting.
II. Results will be communicated personally by the Commissioner General of Examinations via post or through the website www.results.exams.gov.lk.
III. In the event of multiple candidates scoring equal marks for the last available vacancy, only those with higher marks will be selected.
IV. Selected candidates will be absorbed into Grade III of Sri Lanka Technological Service after passing Level 6 of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ 6) Examination and completing a two-year theoretical and practical training at the Sri Lanka Forestry Institute in Nuwara Eliya.
7. Syllabus for Written Examination:
- Paper 1: Intelligence Test
- Duration: 01 hour
- Marks: 100
- Questions: 50 (Multiple-choice and short answers)
- Paper 2: Subject related Technical Test
- Duration: 02 hours
- Marks: 100
- Topics: Forest resources, effects on organisms, Sri Lankan ecology, geographical importance, agricultural economy, Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Conservation, natural environment, forest and vegetations, relationship between forest and people, basic geography, and general knowledge.
Candidates must score a minimum of 40% in each paper to pass.
