National Institute of Social Development

The National Institute of Social Development (NISD) operates as a Higher Educational Institute under the supervision of the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs, and Social Empowerment. It offers Degrees, Higher Diplomas, Diplomas, and Certificate Courses. Recognized by the University Grants Commission as a Degree Awarding Institute according to Section 25A of the Universities Act, No. 16 of 1978.

Admission requirement for Diploma in Social Work & Diploma in Counselling: Passing the G.C.E (A/L) Examination. Applicants who have completed 30 credits of the Diploma in Social work/Counselling can apply for the 2nd year of Higher Diploma in Social Work & Higher Diploma in Counselling.

Admission requirement: Passing the GCE A/L. Experience in relevant fields will be an additional qualification.

Admission requirement for the Certificate level courses:
The courses will be conducted on request of organizations, with a minimum of 50 participants. The commencement date and venue will be decided based on the number of applications. Lectures will be conducted in a hybrid mode.
